C Art Festival
The inaugural C Art Festival began with a question: what happens when contemporary art leaves the white cube and enters an everyday urban space?
Co-presented by Wuhan Contemporary Art Lab and Yiwei Gallery, the festival took place at HuaYuanDao in central Wuhan from October 3 to 5, 2024. Its 1,500-square-metre (approximately 16,000-square-foot) multi-level parking garage was transformed into an experimental art space, where 28 parking bays became 28 exhibitions featuring more than 30 artists from around the world.
Exhibitions and installations unfolded alongside theatre performances, live music, dance workshops, wine tastings and artist forums, inviting visitors to move freely between artworks and live events. This first edition established C Art Festival as a platform for emerging artists and created a more direct, open encounter between art, audiences and the city.
