Yiwei Gallery is pleased to announce the release of Contemporary Oriental Landscape Photography Series, a new limited-edition artist book by Ye Wenlong (叶文龙), published by Artron (雅昌)  following more than four years of preparation.

Yiwei Gallery has been proud to support the development and publication of this ambitious project, which brings together Ye's major landscape photography series-from Poetry of Mountains and Rivers to Winter Snow-across three beautifully produced volumes.

The publication also brings together critical perspectives on Ye's practice from writers and scholars around the world. Yiwei Gallery founder and gallerist Yiwei Lu contributes an essay to the publication, reflecting on Ye's distinctive photographic language and his contemporary interpretation of Eastern landscape traditions.

  • MORE THAN A BOOK

Known for his restrained black, grey, and white palette, Ye draws from traditional East Asian landscape painting to create quiet, contemplative images shaped by negative space and abstraction. This new publication translates that visual language into a carefully crafted physical object.

Limited to just 1,000 copies, each set has been conceived with the same attention to material, atmosphere, and detail found in Ye’s photographs.

    The set includes:

Three photography portfolios featuring Ye’s major landscape series

A literary critique booklet with essays by international critics

An archival-grade photograph printed on metallic paper, creating a luminous, dimensional surface

The most striking details reveal themselves as the viewer opens the book. Against soft, neutral-toned ground paper, Ye’s photographs are individually hand-fitted and applied by an artisan. Beside each work, its title is debossed directly into the paper, elevating the presentation beyond that of a conventional photography portfolio.

The entire set carries an elegant yet solemn energy, echoing Ye’s contemporary interpretation of Eastern aesthetics.
