Yiwei Gallery is pleased to participate in SCOPE Art show in Miami for the first time with a solo booth showcasing the work of Chinese artist Jesse Jinghan Liu.
Following her inaugural exhibition at Yiwei gallery in March 2023, Jesse has created a new series titled Nightglow, featuring 15 oil paintings on canvas of varying dimensions.
In this series, Jesse paints a nocturnal dreamscape featuring luminescent leaves, meteor showers, and moonlit waters. Set in a world bathed solely in the glow of moonlight and falling stars, the scenes unfold as plants and waters absorb this ethereal energy, emitting radiant light. Witnessing this transformation, inhabitants in this world shift from avoidance to acceptance, embracing the vibrant colors of the night. Jesse's aim is to redefine darkness, presenting it as a canvas of rich hues and limitless possibilities.
Born and raised in Beijing, Jinghan Jesse Liu navigated her high school years in South Carolina and pursued her college education in New York. Having graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 2022 with an illustration major, she currently resides in California as a full-time artist. In March 2023, Jesse held her inaugural solo exhibition, Spring Fever, at Yiwei Gallery.
Jesse's oil paintings seamlessly integrate inspiration from daily life with elements of imagination and dream states. Employing a vibrant yet subtle color palette and a nuanced interplay of light and shadow, her work communicates a range of emotions within specific contexts. Through thoughtful compositions, Jesse's paintings convey narratives that evoke a sense of mystery or romance in their ambiance.
