Yiwei Gallery presented Chinese Artist Dai Ying's art installation "Temple 2" at the Yi Tai 「異體」section at Art Central Hong Kong 2025. Temple 1 was previously shown in her 2020 solo exhibition at Today Art Museum and is composed of printed cardboard and marble. Using red xuan paper as its primary medium, the installation constructs an enclosed, pure-red space of approximately 8 square meters. Through this work, the artist reflects on the origins of life and the deeper meaning of existence, emphasizing the sanctity of the female womb: it is not only an organ that nurtures life, but also the source from which all things arise. Viewers may step into this intimate and sacred space, symbolically tracing their way back to the beginning of life and awakening a bodily memory of birth.
Along the installation, the artist presented a performance piece titled Red within the installation on the opening day. With her eyes and mouth veiled by red silk and gauze, the artist curled up at the center of the temple. Through her interaction with the structure, crawling in and out of the entrance, and the friction and touch between her body and the xuan paper, she enacted a journey tracing the origins of life.
